Die Assistierte Ausbildung als Dienstleistungsangebot für Ausbildungsbetriebe zur Verbesserung der Fachkräftesituation
Assisted Training as a Service for Training Companies to Improve the Skilled Labour Situation Assisted training (Assistierte Ausbildung, AsA) is an instrument of employment promotion (Social Code Book III) for the purpose of supporting young trainees in the initiation and implementation of an apprenticeship. After a trial phase since 2015, assisted training has been subjected to a new regulation starting in 2021. The University of Applied Labour Studies of the German Federal Employment Agency examined the impact and achievements of the AsA from 2017 till 2019 with a multi-stage qualitative evaluation study. The article examines the perspective of 29 training companies with AsA-experience in order to show the successes of integration of trainees in companies, but also the reported obstacles to implementation. It also discusses which concrete support services are considered helpful by companies and to what extent AsA provides an integration incentive for training lower-performing young people. Finally, recommendations for action are made with regard to make the program more flexible, offering incentives for release from work, increasing awareness of the program, and providing an outlook on the newly designed “AsA flex”.
